The Crown

 

A king has a large supply of gold and wants his local jeweler to fashion a crown.  The jeweler is known for his necklaces and rings, but his work with fine metals in unparalleled.  The jeweler fashions a beautiful crown, but the king is suspicious that the jeweler may have mixed base metals with the gold, cheating him out of some of the precious metal.  Without destroying the crown, how can the king tell if the jeweler only used the gold given to him?
