Earth Anchors and Augers

This took a little work. First, I used a pipe finding device to search for underground power lines and gas pipes. I didn't want to dig into one of these lines. Next, I used an earth auger to drill over three feet down into the clay soil. I lay 5/8" diameter, 48" long galvanized steel earth anchors at a 50 degree angle into each of the four holes. These anchors were tested and at minimum withstood 4200 lbs of tension without failure. I don't know if I needed it, but I sprayed rustoleum over the anchor and sprayed the eye bright yellow. I slipped a 12" steel brake rotor over the shaft until it hit the 4" auger base. I poured 160lbs of 4000psi crack-resistant concrete over the anchor. After letting it sit for close to a week I buried the rest with the clay soil. The pictures show the anchor/rotor and then the anchor with the poured concrete.
